Even after all these years I still enjoy watching America's Funniest Home Videos. I am not a fan of any of the hosts (especially Bob Saget) but there are endless laughs from the videos! A very good friend of mine sent me a link to a fantastic video that could have been on AFV.

Seven months between posts hardly seems like there are any adventures in my life! Quite the contrary - so much has happened that I have not taken time to blog.
Beautiful day to be alive! Been reading the new Beatles book "Can't But Me Love" by Jonathan Gould. It is a very interesting piece about how the Beatles affected cultural history as well as the global music industry. Having lived through that era I can remember how anxious we were for the next Beatles product to be released. I would recommend the book to anyone interested in the Fab Four.

I have come to fully realize I am my own worst critic. I rarely seem satisfied with what I have accomplished whether personal or professional. I am not sure where this personal trait comes from - my brother says our father always seemed to be looking "for the other shoe to drop" so possibly I garnered a little from him. My mom has a fantastic sense of humor and has given me a wealth of quotes and sayings to get me through each day. I also know that no one will know me better than myself and if I need reinforcement I must first pull it from me. I found an interestig quote from Charles Darwin:
Whenever I have found that I have blundered or that me work has been imperfect, and when I have been contempuously criticized and even when I have been overpraised, so that I have felt mortified, it has been my greatest comfort to say hundreds of times to myself that 'I have worked as hard and as well as I could, and no man can do more than this'.
This is certainly something that could help me...

I continue to struggle with time. There never seems to be enough of it. I recently read a good quote about time:
They say time is relative. It is. It's relative to the way you treat it. As an enemy it's a negative. A deadly countdown. As a friend it's all positive. A chance for exploration. For growth, for love, for enjoyment. Drink it greedily.

I saw a butterfly the other day. I had not seen one in a very long time. As a child growing up in the Midwest I remember seeing them every day during the summer. We also had lots of lightning bugs. We used to catch the lightning bugs and put them in jars. Butterflies I specifically remember were the Monarchs and Yellowtails. We had butterfly nets and used to catch them... I hope that's why I don't see them as often these days...

The other day my brother sent me a link to Julian Lennon's my space page:
http://www.myspace.com/julianlennon
When you launch it one of his new songs plays. It's called "Everything Changes" and is very good - quite lush with some interesting chord changes. His approach to music is very different from his half brother. In my opinion it is MUCH more listenable than Sean's. I am not a myspace expert but it looks like Julian has some heavy-hitters on his friends space: U2, Elvis Costello, Leonardo DiCaprio, Van Morrison, R.E.M., and Jewel. "Disconnected" is another interesting song featured on the site.

Saw the Bourne Prophecy yesterday and I would highly recommend it, especially if you have seen the first two Bourne films. Afterwards I made my usual post movie stop to Borders bookstore and purchased Stephen Stills' latest release "Just Roll Tape." It was recorded on April 26, 1968 after Stills had contributed to a Judy Collins recording session. Stills is in fine, clear voice and his simple, yet eloquent, guitar playing help us see how astonishingly talented this 23 year old was. The liner notes state:
"I was at a Judy Collins session in New York in 1968, and when she was finished, I peeled off a few hundreds for the engineer so I could make a tape of my new songs. Some you'll know; some you might not. The following fall we made the first CSN album, and the tape has been lost to the wind for almost 40 years. Somehow it's found its way back, and these songs now feel like great friends when they were really young."
I have been listening to it constantly since yesterday afternoon...
